This compact laundry space in Benicia’s Highlands neighborhood was designed to be both deeply functional and personally expressive. The client — a new mother — envisioned a private, joyful space that could bring ease and beauty to everyday routines.

With three doors interrupting the small footprint, layout options were limited, and precision planning was essential. We maximized the one uninterrupted wall, designing custom casework that integrates hidden storage disguised as a tile backsplash. Cabinet placement, faucet height, and appliance depth were all coordinated down to the inch, resulting in smart flow and full usability despite the tight constraints.

Materials were selected for durability and warmth: black appliances, brushed nickel fixtures, and a cement gray quartz countertop. The backsplash, a peel-and-stick mosaic, became the centerpiece for the room’s palette — echoed in the custom pink wall color and a bold cabinet shade, Benjamin Moore’s “Red Rock.” A patterned rug softens the unmodified floors, lending texture and comfort.
